• Hatonn on Evolutionary Service

In some of my research for an essay I’m writing on one of Hatonn’s sessions, I came across some early explications of the concept of service. What is novel is not the emphasis the early contacts place on it so much as the way Hatonn grounds the phenomenon in an evolutionary telos and what we would normally call “natural processes.” The same way Dr. Tyman coined the term “ontological love” to distinguish what we call “love” as humans from the cosmic forces of creation and destruction, I’d like to suggest “evolutionary service” as the underlying philosophical concept that informs what we crudely attempt in the illusion through our activities and intentions. It is the common root of the different manifestations of desire and response throughout the many mansions of our Father. Service is bound up in desire and therefore the calling, all of these dynamics weaving to hold the creation together as an image of unity careening through the evolution of consciousness.

To articulate the character of service as not simply some moralistic behavior to which we conform but as a broader natural law places our third density project in a slightly different light. If we realize we’re always serving the Creator in ways that create more or less harmony, we understand why those of Ra stated that we cannot help but serve. Our very lives are expressions of the original desire to return to oneness, and the service we perform in these lives simply addresses itself through the many to the many in an illusory mask of separation.

This flow of love and communication between parts of the Creation demonstrates imperfectly in time and space the reality of timelessness and the vastness of our true presence. We tap into this flow when we become an instrument of the Creator, giving us third density mind/body/spirit complexes a small hand in the vastness of our true identity that this illusion hides in process and change. Hence we polarize: we marshall our desire to function under a organizating vibration upon which we learn to fix ourselves, and service is simply the way we acclimate to and express our chosen vibratory pole.

  • Hatonn on Pride

The subject of pride, especially spiritual pride, pops up here and there in Carla’s channeling due to it being one of those vices she identified within her personality. I always admired her for being very forthcoming about her personality, both its upsides and downsides. Many of us who looked to her noticed her comfort with self-deprecation and the light touch of humorous silliness, and it served as a wonderful example of service-to-others discipline in practice. The gentle correction with love sidesteps the dangers of too much self-criticism as well as the hazards of avoiding the mirror altogether.

Catalysis has a way of emptying us out, compelling us to find the true ground of selfhood in elements that partake less and less of the illusion. In the abstract this is a salutary process aiding our evolutionary designs; in practice it can feel positively excruciating to let go of aspects of our identity upon which we relied a bit too much. Whatever fear is induced by acknowledging our flaws and failures as a third density personality, we can at least take comfort that much of the pride that fixes us in our worldly identity burns off with it. Especially confusing is the spiritual pride we take in our status as seekers, for to the extent we make that part of our mask, to that very extent we make it something we will need to remove at some point.

  • Hatonn on Reincarnation

There’s a really good excerpt from the beginning of this session I’m skipping, possibly to deal with in a more comprehensive way tomorrow. However, this is a good and rather concise explanation of reincarnation by those of Hatonn which I think bears reading. It really gets into the affective dimension of what kind of self we must be to contain this kaleidoscopic capacity for expression of our essence.

The challenges with which we are dealing right now are the stuff of the incarnative/discarnative sine wave our consciousness traces in its undulations through time and space. We have accrued biases that give us things to work on in order for our consciousness to expand and our ability to love be less and less inhibited. The details of personality are but a kind of avatar or container we’ve selected for understanding our full 360 degrees of self in this context at this time. Karma, far from being some debt we learn to refinance cleverly, is instead our best friend in ensuring this learning. Consider applying that rubric to all of the elements of incarnative life that we attempt as best we can veiled from our total selves.

  • Hatonn's Four Suggestions

This is kind of an interesting one not simply because it features Don, but because it features a message coherently coming through two different instruments. You can see how much Don is struggling, and it doesn’t help that the recording captures his voice poorly. However, I think it is salvagable and when Hatonn moves over to Carla, we see how the student has surpassed the teacher, indeed.

  • Hatonn on Being a Channel for Love

In today’s excerpt you’ll see Hatonn build on a theme where meditation and its role in root identity of the mind/body/spirit complex plays a central role. In this session, Hatonn begins by telling a story that captures the role that love and the free giving of the authentic self constitutes service-to-others, and not just service to the other but service in a way that is truly satisfactory to the servant. The secret is to recognize that it is not your individual love and it doesn’t come from your individual self at its purest and most refined.

This means we might newed to think differently about service than the normal usage of the term implies. Is service merely a way we score points in the polarity game? Is it simply a matter of helping the other in the manner they require? More and more, fellow seekers, I see service as the actionable way that we experience this cosmic or ontological love of the Creator in the illusion. Service gives us a way to feel into the contours of this love, and perhaps this is the entire purposes of the “incarnative experiential nexus” in the first place: to make the Creator in Its totalizing glory meet the unique conditions of the moment in a way that we can appreciate and about which we may give report back to It.

  • Hatonn on Your Greatest Responsibility

Here’s another excerpt from the same session featuring a follow-up question to Hatonn’s thoughts on mated relationships: what do those of Hatonn mean by being yourself exactly? There are two mentions of “being yourself;” the first deals with the mirroring nature of any experience of other self by self and vice versa.

When you can look at the pain of a misunderstanding and continue to be yourself in the face of it, then you become as a mirror reflecting that which may help your loved one. Speeches, arguments and inharmonious silences can never be of the help that you can be if you remain yourself.

Notice they did not say that “becoming as a mirror reflecting” would resolve the misunderstanding in your favor. This is not about winning; it’s about service. How can you be of service if you cannot give of yourself—to be precise, a self of which you have possession, to which you have earned title, and with which you bravely and humbly venture into each unique experience of letting catalyst place pressure on and shape you. As rough edges of the personality are sanded away by friction, you realize that faith orients you in part because it at least promises to align your conscious mind closely with your unconscious.

  • Hatonn on Service to Our Mated Partners

This one is on my radar because I’m planning on recording an episode of (inaudible) all about what those of Ra call “mated relationships.” It’s interesting to get a peek into how higher density entities think about these kinds of relationships; we see them as these intense catalytic cauldrons, but for those of Hatonn, Oorkas, and Laitos it seems like they’re a much more pleasant – if paler – reflection in the mirror.

The remarks on biases are curious to me. I think that biases are one of the most mysterious elements of creation, and I don’t feel contact with the Confederation has been able to shed much useful light on the topic. What is interesting to me, however, is how the mated relationship exacerbates and calls out whatever the underlying crux of the bias is. If this is our material to work with as we spiritually evolve, then it gives new urgency to these relationships we cultivate and the sexual dimension that slams us together like positive and negative particles.

  • Hatonn on Being a Complex

This was a hard one to excerpt because it’s chock full of goodies. But I’m going to have to stop mentioning that because as we transition into the 1980s it’s gonna be an embarrassment of riches. So let’s stop letting Jeremy feel sorry for himself and move right along. I do really encourage reading this one in full though: there’s thoughts on the nature of evil, on what families are like on planet Hatonn, what range of emotions fourth density individuals feel, and more. I must also mention there’s a big hint about how Latuii’s name is really vibrated (and part of the reason why I insist on alternative spelling).

Here I see Hatonn hinting at the fact that we are made up of parts, but that we are something more than that sum. This is the paradox of being a complex: our divisions within imbue us with a way to relate to ourselves dialectically. And yet there is a unity that pervades and transcends that; we are not, as Ra so eloquently remarked, machines so much as tone poems – in other words, our nature at root is vibratory and as such sublime and indecomposable. Like all growing things, there is a season to our fruition that is not simply about parts and pieces. We have the knowledge within us even if we don’t have the forms in our thoughts to contain and mobilize them at will. Luckily, there is a greater will in which our wills move and have their being, and it can put our planetary situation in a greater, more loving context.

  • Hatonn on Cruelty and Growth

Well, this is my first post about spirituality as a first-order concern on my blog, cross posted to Reddit. I hope you enjoy it, and please check out r/lawofone_philosophy for more discussion and others’ thoughts. If you’re interested in contributing to this blog, that subreddit is the best place to reach out.

Anyway, this passage from Hatonn has always stuck with me because it shows the unity between second density and third density service and growth. The challenge in our sector of awareness is to not get discouraged by adversity, but to find creative ways to respond to it as second density life does – just with a little more perspicacity.

As our project gathers itself and gets started, we're looking forward to a world where channeling is not just occuring in Richmond, VA and Anchorage, KY. Other channeling circles following the protocols are coming online, and as they gain experience and improve the quality of contact, they will need a place to publish. We could set up a separate site for each circle, but this could eventually fracture the philosophy and possibly even promote competition between circles. What we need is not simply cooperation but a dialogue, vetting each other's messages for quality, accuracy, and polarity as we expand and deepen our understanding of the Confederation's philosophy. • Hatonn and Latuii on Conflict

Reading this session multiple times as I am absolutely stimulated by conflict. We all are: studies show conflict lights up the brain like a slot machine. I run into it constantly on the internet, and the tighter the feedback loop of the interaction, the more catalyst I encounter.

I don’t think, however, that Ra’s suggestion to “avoid contumely” means that one should always surrender and fold. Sometimes conflict is necessary, even productive – recall that Ra suggests even combat has a positive polarizing potential. To me it’s about that “unstudied and spontaneous reaction;” if it’s truly unstudied and spontaneous, you’re not always going to avoid acting on it. But you can heal it. And I think it is in the healing of conflict between two seekers that the friction can be used to warm hearts instead of harden and freeze them. But that’s just my take and I’m still learning these lessons actively (see the last post’s comment section if you think I’m the perfect teacher).

  • Latuii asks: why so serious? On the mind, thought, and love.

Another Latuii banger drops some 47 years ago, this one focusing on thought and intellect and its proper use. We already know we need them to be in balance with the heart and intuition; now we need to also calm the F down and stop being so serious and solemn. There’s a place for that, but not when it arises from a fear – least of all of God!

One of the most crucial passages here is instruction on “finding love in the moment” that is so murkily described by Ra two years later. “If you cannot find it, let it go;” it seems like a cop-out, right? But it’s better than tying yourself in knots! This seems like sage advice: to look for love, and in the looking solidify the intention. To engage the self, and to forgive when the engagement does not yield fruit. To direct the intellect and thought, but to not let it direct you, for you are something more than mere thinking, though your personality? That might just be made up, yeah.

  • Makai says hi

Throughout the LLR channeling archives that are a handful of contacts who make a very small number of appearances. Telonn comes to mind, as does Oorkas (Orcas) and Orkan. Makai makes one single appearance at the end of a ‘79 session. The content is not interesting; I’m just sharing a novel appearance.

EDIT: One thing actually stands out. In the Solar Cross contacts that are contemporary to these LLR contacts, complexes such as Monka and Soltec speak in similar terms: being assigned to posts, or talking to a tribunal, etc. These are all concepts that I sense have an official, organized, even political or military overtone to them. However, it’s very, very difficult for me to imagine social memory complexes thinking of themselves this way. I rather think this is the overlay of instruments steeped in WW2/Cold War ideas of what UFOs and their civilizations would be like from our point of view.

  • Latuii on Simplicity

This was a hard session to excerpt, because it hit interesting topics all over the map. They talk about the meaning of their name; they talk about disharmony in seeking groups (“Never be disheartened by apparent disharmony, for there must be friction before something can move”), they talk about discovering the unknown and its relationship to love, and more. They even have an instrument pronounce their name differently. The topic I want to single out is that of simplicity as recounted by a social memory complex in the density of light or wisdom.

The experience of a life full to bursting with different details – some urgent, some trivial; some hidden, some screaming at you – has always perplexed me as a seeker. It seems like we have to constantly make our lives more complex to be adults apprehending the world soberly, and what is the seeking life but yet another layer of duty and attention to be plopped on top of a stack of distractions, chores, worries, etc.? This is why we meditate: to reconnect with the simplicity of existence, if for just a moment. To my way of thinking it is crucial to learn how, as we discussed in an earlier session, to remove the details – as crucial as it is to re-assume the duty of honoring them in waking life. As we learn to simplify and relax, we can learn to not only have a productive relationship with the chaos of life and love but also to begin reevaluating the relative import of these details.

  • Monka on "MAN"

I’ve gotten back into reading Star Wards, the book of Confederation channeling published by Richard T. Miller’s Solar Cross Foundation. It’s a more archaic form much closer to the UFO phenomenon than even the 70s channeling I’ve been surveying here. Like what Don and Carla did, it’s a mix of philosophical concepts and space opera, and usually I have to do a lot more filtering with the Solar Cross stuff. This however is excellent; it’s just weird to talk about “MAN” like this. In the book “MAN” is even put in a different font from the rest of the text.

The key here is connecting the space opera with the means for seekers to achieve it: consciousness, awareness, philosophy. And their role? Fanning the flame of consciousness to induce the ennoblement of man (lowercase, notably) into “MAN”. There are clear references to the fourth density destiny of Earth and folks who have insufficiently polarized repeating third density. I think it’s important to dip into these earlier chapters in the lineage to see what has remained the same and what has evolved.

  • Latuii on Working With the Intellect

This is a good, longer session covering many different points. Today I’m focusing on Latuii’s ideas about the intellect and going beyond it. The questioner asks about an article he read and asks for Latuii to comment on its accuracy. Latuii challenges the entire concept that words are very effective at getting at the deeper questions intellect seeks to make plain and bare. It’s about finding a balance between one’s intuitive apprehension of an aspect and the focus that an intellectual penetration of an aspect brings to bear.

  • Latuii on Time and Will in Learning

As another example of fourth and fifth density contacts anticipating Ra’s messages, consider this passage offered by Latuii. R, a frequent circle participant, is asking about something called “neurogenetics” which I know nothing about and I’m willing to bet my fortune that Carla didn’t either. Like any good Confederation contact, Latuii penetrates the transient husk to get to the sublime core of the concern expressed by R.

To stress the role of will in these matters such as learning and reprogramming the the incarnation is a very novel hint; it shows us exactly what the day-to-day task of balancing between the stillness of spiritual seeking and the frenetic motion of the worldly life. It is in that balancing that the humor or light touch is so needed. Carla’s persistent ill health is used as an example of not only how these lessons work, but what learning them actually entails.

  • Latuii on Working Within for Peace in the World

We’ve reached 1979, but it’s difficult to remember encountering a more timely message for our current situation. Here those of Latuii speak of how the healing of our planet, our society, and our culture begins with healing ourselves. This message doesn’t need much expansion, but I do think it’s worth giving an explanation of their monitoring activities they lay out at the beginning.

Hatonn and Latuii frequently mention monitoring tense political situations on our planet during the 70s channeling. Usually they’re only observing and sending undifferentiated love/light, so there’s no hint of intervention per se. If I’m not mistaken, when these reports of their earthly monitoring began, it was usually prompted by a questioner asking about some geopolitical situation. From what I can tell it grew into a frequent mention as perhaps a force of habit that eventually died off, and it skated on the boundary of transient information as many of the group’s (especially Don’s) questions did at that time.

  • Hatonn on the Two Creations

When I began reading the archive from the beginning a decade ago, I remember running into concepts of “the creation of the Father” and “the creation of man” frequently, and it definitely seeped into my suite of concepts. It had an archaic ring to it that reminded me of this lineage’s heritage in the channeling of Edgar Cayce (who after all was the first to use the term “Law of One” as far as I’m aware). As I started studying becoming an instrument, these messages from the 70s and early 80s rode shotgun with my practice contacts, and I found Laitos referencing the two creations even in messages I brought through. This is all to say that the term and the idea to which it refers has a long history not only within the tradition but with me personally as well.

Its influence continues to this day in the work of the Richmond Meditation Circle, where we have done many sessions exploring the differences between the two creations and the redemption of one in the other. To put it succinctly, the creation of man reflects sub-sub-logoic or man-made thought forms, whereas the creation of the Father reflects sub-logoic or nature-made thought forms. The difference in the vibrations of the two environs stems from this position in the logoic chain, we are theorizing, and as a result we plan to conduct more meditations and other workings in natural, unspoiled environments in 2026. It is a way in which self-conscious, third density entities learn to become co-Creators specifically in the sense of being agents of nature. As Monka puts it, “you can slow down and wait to offer this fast-paced and energetically intense place upon your Mother Earth the complementary waveform, the balance to its own kind of vibrancy. What nature meets over the long run, you can meet in the moment in a much more immediate way.”

  • Hatonn on Shedding the Shell

Hatonn today provides us a nice, tight excerpt speaking to an important but discomfiting experience in our evolution. The mind complex, as I see it, is very much a complex of multiple faculties, but one crucial facet it brings to consciousness is its knack for introducing and instantiating constraining concepts. It is in the mind complex that we appreciate those thoughts that, unlike more abstract and less discrete ideas like justice and peace closer to the sublimity of the spirit complex, are more concrete and bound. The thought form is an example of how mind creates a kind of container for thinking that allows the thought to be circumscribed and worked with.

So Hatonn’s contention that our thinking conforms to a shell that demarcates the range of possibilities of which we can conceive seems very reasonable to me at least, and it is the seeking towards spirit in particular that begins to expose these limits and gesture towards what it might be like to exceed them. This is dangerous, however, because without these constraints we cannot have identity and traction in a familiar environment as we expect. It makes sense that as we sit with finite thoughts and reach haltingly towards the infinite, we would need to redefine that environment and accept the formerly unfamiliar as the new boundaries of our conscious agency.

  • Hatonn on reform

I thought this was a good excerpt to pull for the conditions in which the world finds itself right now, where there is plenty of social and political turmoil. None of us can identify a concrete program to follow individually that can cut through the propaganda and agendas. It is easy to despair, and yet Hatonn poses the critical question: why are we here, in fact? This must be the guiding principle we follow as seekers; we cannot possibly know how to heal this intellectually or through some strategy. Only by learning how to be cleaner and cleaner windows for love to pass through and guide us can we hope to help, how to bring the Creator’s cosmic love to bear.

Hatonn reminds us that we cannot manifest this love in and of ourselves. This is why we meditate and balance; so that it’s not up to our personalities to get every detail right and consciously see the path from where we are to where we wish to be. As Q’uo once put it so eloquently: we’re not here to fix it; we are here to love it. And as we learn to free that love that created us and shapes us and issues from us, we free ourselves to simply be agents of a greater agenda than any ideology or policy can contain. We have power, yes – but only as supplicants of our Creator, Who crafts our judgment and intelligence to perfection if we can simply yield to It and put aside our craving for certainty in worldly conditions. It’s frightening, but isn’t real love bound up in what is at stake?

  • Hatonn on Mass Education

Don’t let the policy wonkish title fool you. Hatonn in this excerpt addresses the conundrum of education at scale, where unique individuals are fed a one-size-fits-all curriculum but where individual instruction simply doesn’t scale. The real solution is the dissolution of the veil and the ability to see the fullness of an other self, but that’s of no help to our institutions presently! And I’d wager this question might be informed by the Louisville folks paying attention to the work of Richard T. Miller and the Solar Cross Foundation, who posed many questions to Monka about how things like this work in higher densities. I hope to share more excerpts from their work this year.

I would just point out before I log off that Hatonn really does pose this conundrum to the reader as a choice more generally. Is it better to serve in the way you can right now, the way that makes sense given your read of the problem? Or is it better to dive in and help as one can, recognizing the dangers of one’s imperfect understanding of the others’ need? This is the old problem of service in front of the veil once again, rearing its head in the educational variety of service.

  • Hatonn on Planetary Happiness and Desire

Happy 2026 other selves! Trying to get back in the rhythm of posting here.

This excerpt is not the most vital from the August 9, 1978 session. I encourage you to read the one where polarity is first hinted at, almost three years before contact with those of Ra. It’s a very poetic conception of polarity, and yet it also has a kind of “physics” to it that I find much more satisfying than anything Ra was able to provide. I’ve often remarked that polarity must consist of some underlying energetic configuration, and this excerpt gestures at a way to reconcile “evil” and “good” with the dynamics of illusory travel back to the Creator.

  • Hatonn on Negotiating Truth Amongst Our Other Selves

I’ve been meditating on this passage quite a bit because of personal distortions I have towards other seekers. They really are a reflection of my own embarrassment; others’ shallow interpretations (in my view) force me to face my own past shallow interpretations and suggest I may not have the deepest approach now. This material is so meaningful to me that it bugs the hell out of me how flippant folks can be in reading the material (if they read it at all!).

It was only when I started earnestly applying the philosophy to my own life that I saw its true value. That value does not lie in Ra’s ability to express concepts with precision and erudition. It does not lie in the story they tell. It lies with the ability it may or may not hold to transform your life, to transform that person doing the interpreting. It’s only working with your material, and deeper study of this philosophy cannot but ride shotgun with the main purpose of studying yourself.

Here’s another gem that hits several different interesting points, and if I mentioned them all this wouldn’t be the bite-size excerpt survey kind of post that I like to do. I encourage you to read the whole thing, for it features early evidence of the planet’s role in social memory as well as some good advice for those of us who sometimes roll our eyes at how other’s interpret spiritual material.\

This excerpt focuses on the means by which we are able to connect with the love in any moment, but it’s not something we make happen solely in the moment. Meditation is how we gain the frame of mind to even begin to notice it, and it is a long process of slowly acclimating yourself to the stillness at which this love operates.

  • Orkan on the Flame

This is the only appearance of Orkan in the archives. Since there’s a superficial similarity between their appellation and Orcas’s (“Oorkas” in our material) it’s possible there’s a connection, but I find it unwise to dwell on these things too much. The names are much much more important to us than they are to these contacts.

Not a lot I want to add to this message; really the thing that sticks out to me is the “discipline to seek the flame” part. It seems like an alternative rendering of “finding the love in the moment,” but one that perhaps improves slightly on Ra’s phrasing to the extent that they are able to speak much more broadly about love using this metaphor of the flame. I find that the true scope of cosmic love–a love encompassing destruction and creation–is better captured here. Passages like these show the power of which these contacts are capable, especially relative to the other contacts in the session.

There’s really a lot here, and for this post we’re going to focus on Hatonn’s opening points. I’ll probably post other excerpts from this session as they’re nice and self-contained.

Probably the biggest idea to clock is this one of service not representing simply the will of the individual to respond to need, but service as a means by which the universe regulates itself and evolves. There are passages in the early transcripts–particularly those channeled by Don–that really nail this: all portions of the Creator serve all other portions. The natural systems, cycles, and processes we observe are simply service rendered at different levels of awareness.

  • Hatonn on Healing our Society

These are the messages that really intrigue me because of how much of a political theory guy I am. It’s what made me fall in love with the complex of Monka: the idea that our social problems are a result of very simple barriers in our hearts, not puzzles we’ve failed to solve with our brains. This analogy to the body, then, is incredibly instructive.

We are like the first cellular organisms naturalistically discovering how to cooperate sufficient to create a multicellular organism as a result of the upward spiraling light. However, instead of this spiraling effecting body complex formation as a result of the deterministic bumping of molecules and processes of chemical reaction, another complex – a more social one – is forming. The nature of this process relies more on refined and abstract mental and interpersonal dynamics, but (this is extremely important) it is precisely as naturalistic a process, just one occurring at the level of mind, spirit, and logoic will instead carbon and hydrogen.

  • Hatonn on Understanding, Thought, and Love

We come once again to one of these elusive terms in the philosophy of the Confederation: understanding, that state which those of Ra claim is not part of our third density experience. And yet they also say a density involves “primarily its [corresponding color] ray plus the attractions of the following ray pulling it forward in evolution and to some extent coloring or shading the chief color of that density.” So while understanding in total is not our lot in this incarnation, we are attracted to it, pulled towards it, and therefore perhaps it is reasonable to say that understanding is the draw of the next density on our third density experience.

In any case, those of Hatonn address understanding in this 1978 session, and I’m going to share two excerpts that show how two experienced instruments can inflect a concept differently yet harmoniously. First is “H” (likely Hal Price, the one who introduced the Louisville circle to the Confederation channeling technique over half a century ago) speaking of the simplicity of understanding and how counter-intellectual it truly is (using, of course, an intellectual example at first) but how crucial it is to develop. It’s not to be developed simply to benefit us, but also to help us discipline and safely control this power within us as co-Creators. This is the area the Richmond circle is exploring through its investigation of thought forms: ways to help us discipline thought and understand ourselves and the planet’s destiny.

  • Hatonn on Seeking in the Wilderness

We’re kicking off 1978, another year of sparse records of channeling. I rather think this indicates a lack of recording rather than a lack of channeling, because it’s hard for me to see sporadic practice leading to narrow band contact in less than three years, but who knows. I really doubt anybody with first hand knowledge of this is still alive, and in any case Ra showed up when they showed up.

Hatonn admits this message is more advanced than usual at the end, and while this comment ostensibly addresses their advice to S in the Q+A section, I think it applies to the monologue as well since it addresses some of Carla’s doubts. Hatonn is speaking of the ambiguity inherent in the preincarnative programming. We wander in the wilderness, seeking what is authentic in ourselves through the illusion, and returning to the source within when this illusion has exhausted us. In fact, polarization might be said in many cases intimately tied up in exhausting our appetite for distraction, for having it both ways (seem the Transformation of Mind archetype).

  • Laitos on Desire and Reality

In this last documented session of 1977, Hatonn gives a great sermonette with a surprisingly naturalistic view of how inner and outer realities connect. Not only do our manifest lives reveal in previously unrecognized ways our thoughts, we tap into this hidden wealth of our lived experiences through our quest to know ourselves:

  • Various thoughts on 1977's fallow season

To be honest, the last few days of reading in the 1977 archive haven’t provided much in the way of interesting excerpts. Particularly in the last half of the year Louisville’s recording game seems to have been downright awful, with much being lost and the old “(inaudible)” tag featuring heavily. On this morning’s session, the editor even writes, “The transcription is only to give an idea of the contents and should not be considered accurate.”

Such a weak apology brings to mind the effusive interstitial notes with which Red Cord Channeling peppers their transcripts. Either there’s a message here or not, but feelings and fragments are not a message! I might write more about this, because there’s a real misunderstanding out there about the role of the emotions felt by an instrument or the subjective experiences encountered in a channeling even by batteries. It’s understandable, but it’s what happens when you are not trained within a tradition but instead decide to just figure it out on your own. Of course without any guidance to help you deal with your experiences, every single thing that happens to you during contact feels vitally important to report! But if it’s not the message, what’s the point of reporting it other than to glorify the instrument?

  • Hatonn on the Nakedness of Meditation

A little bit of a longer one, but incredibly helpful to me so I thought I’d share. Hatonn encourages meditation not simply as a way to boost our spiritual evolution, but as a refuge from our waking lives of acting, fronting, and lying to each other. It’s not that it’s bad that we do this necessarily — we all have to be where we are in a society and culture in which we play roles and cannot express our truth perfectly — but that it gets so exhausting to reconcile our spiritual beingness with what everybody expects of us. It makes us bitter, jaded, depressed. OK, it makes me bitter, jaded, and depressed, and to the extent that you feel this too, know there’s at least one other soul on this planet right there with you.

I’ve had a lot of success literally imagining removing my personality signifiers in meditation as if they were layers of clothing. One can identify each fake aspect of oneself that one clings to in waking life, bless and thank it, and simply put it aside for a few moments as you sit and take everything in, as you dilate your awareness to recognize how much you block out to be the “you” others expect.

  • Hatonn on the Bridge of Faith

Well, as we jump forward from April to August (I have no idea whether this gap represents missing material or a lack of channeling), here’s another great example of a session that presages Ra’s messages, for those of Hatonn discuss the higher self earlier in this session as well as the impending harvest. Time and time again one discovers the majority of concepts explicated by Ra plainly in material prior to their arrival. It seems clear to me that the flower of narrow band contact grew out of the well churned and fertilized soil that constitutes the earlier conscious work. I simply do not see how one can grasp the full message of the Confederation by concentrating solely on Ra’s words, but that’s for the reader to decide I suppose.

However, the excerpt is going to focus on Hatonn’s point about faith bridging between the intellect and the intuition. I want to highlight the remark about “privately convincing ways” in which faith operates. It strikes me that the operation of the intellect goes far beyond theory or principles that we articulate to each other in our conversations. Much of what the intellect usefully provides are almost like mental and emotional heuristics that help us identify and seat our intuitions. Even imagination plays a role here.

  • Hatonn On The Body

title: Hatonn on the Body layout: post date: 2025-11-11 categories:

    • Meta/Legacy—

We’ve entered 1977, and it will be a very brief visit as there are only six or so documented contacts in the archive. I would love to know the reason, but I’m not sure there’s anybody still around who could explain it – remember that Jim McCarty doesn’t join LLR until 1980ish.

Here we have Hatonn addressing the subject of the body, a subject that has philosophically interested me for some time. When Ra says that the body is the creature of the mind and an instrument for the manifestation of the fruits of the other complexes, what is the import of this statement? It seems to be in part a crucible of balance, in which one must be judicious about how the fruits of beingness are seated in consciousness such that they blossom into the physical experience.

Yet if these fruits are the object, what is the subject? This is to me a very important detail of Hatonn’s remarks: that because we can think of the body as a kindly vehicle, we can conceive of an identity that transcends it. It strikes me that it is in this transcendence that one can weigh the stakes of manifestation properly, and learn about the infinite self through this experience of limitation. If I’m not terribly far off in my thinking, only by balancing this vehicle of manifestation can this ingress result in a grounded, complete learning returned to the Creator.

What a pickle it is to be both vehicle and driver, both instrument and user, both Creator and creature!

As I’ve talked about before, I tend to think of the physical experience as a kind of inflection point for the ingress of spirit/intelligent infinity into the drama of intelligent energy as it is released or conserved at a given moment. If we think of manifestation as this kind of limiting of the self such that this concentrated separation can penetrate the total mystery of the Creator, then we can think of the physical as the deepest point of ingress, the point at which the penetration must reflect back to the Creator.

Within your universe there is a local phenomenon which is known to you as time and a local set of conditions represented to you by mass and space and your so-called Euclidean geometry. And because of this we speak to you of cycles and of timing our campaign. We are dealing with a local set of parameters and it is in this way that we communicate with you that we bridge the gap between our way of thinking and your way of thinking. There is a level on which the talk of cycles and anything of campaigns is, if anything, only partially so for this is a level of which we are far more aware than you: that all things are truly one; that all cycles truly become circles; that all corners truly become rounded into one unending globe of unity—infinite, invisible, eternal and containing all that there is.

These concepts are not graspable by your peoples and so we deal with the local, understandable frame of reference and say that you are coming to the end of a cycle and that we are attempting to help those of you who wish to be helped at this time to make progress on your cycle so that you may spiral upward in the great dance along the spiritual path. To understand your place in the universe at this time is very, very critical. Because you are within a physical body, it is important that you deal in a balanced manner with your physical existence with the demands and the responsibilities of the physical life. It is very difficult, and purposely so, to balance the physical existence and spiritual seeking. It is to test your ability to do this that you have entered this sphere. It is a great mistake, my friends, to care too much for the physical body and its needs.

Yet, we say to you also, beware of the opposite. Do not care too little for your physical vehicle and its needs. You must look upon your physical vehicle as just that: it is a vehicle. It is functioning well for you and like a good fruit tree, it has grown, it has come into its youth, it has borne truth. Perhaps it has grown a little gnarled, a little bent, and as the years go on it will become increasingly gnarled and it will [have] served its time. All of its fruit will have been given up and it will be cut down. This is your physical body. You may accept it as a good and faithful servant. The circumstances of your being here, of the type and condition of your life, are intended and are offered to you so that you make take your conditions and learn. You may take your body and be of service to others. Your body has hands with which to reach out to others; a mouth with which to smile, my friends; a mind to function well for you and to think well of others. It is not you, but it is no stranger to you. It is yours for a time. Keep this in balance, neither rejecting or being overly fond of those portions of your identity which are only temporary.

In meditation, seek your permanent identity. Within you there is a perfect body. And that body is your spirit. It is not a body as you would think of a body. And yet it is the ultimate house of your soul. To penetrate upward through the various shells of being to the final center of yourself is the goal of meditation. For within that final center is your link with all that there is. We are urging you, shall we say, to do your homework at this time. The joy, the state of joy, my friends, that you left to come into the physical existence is very greatly needed among your peoples at this time. And how few there are that understand that joy is the natural state of existence for each of those who dwell upon the surface of your sphere.

You see, my brothers, you are not on the same order of the apple tree. You are not out in the weather. You do not grow, wither and die. You are a consciousness that is not born and does not die. You are joy. To touch this place within yourself is all-important at this time, for if you can but make contact with your higher self, you can be of great comfort and of great service to many in the days to come. For in the days to come, as we have said many times, there will be many who are afraid, and many who have put off their voyage of self-discovery until the very last minute and who, when they finally realize that they must now decide who they are, will be absolutely terrified. One person, who is sure of who he and is radiating the joy of that knowledge and who can reach out with his light will be of infinite service, as people always have been when they are able to shine with the light and the love of the Creator.

  • Hatonn on Disciplined Thought

A short one here, as Don asks a bunch of transient questions in this last documented session from 1976. • Hatonn on Thought Projections

Maybe it’s just me and my recent fixation on thought forms, but I found this passage from Hatonn quite challenging because I’ve been proceeding on the theory that sub-sub-logoi are more than just thought forms. Hatonn here suggests that we, or at least our individuality, are projections of the Creator’s thought. It’s not a direct contradiction of Auxhall’s claims a few months ago, but it does muddy the waters of what thought is and how we go about relating ourselves to the Original Thought and our own thoughts.

However, that’s just a nerdy metaphysical detail, one that perhaps we are not positioned to intellectually authenticate. The greater idea of the need to discipline our thoughts stands. Here those of Hatonn point out that the Creator works through us because It is in us. This divine spark that manifests Its presence might be seen as the key thing separating us from mere thought projections, as we are ourselves co-Creators. But we also create on the Creator’s behalf, because our nature is inherently the same as the Creator’s.

  • Hatonn on Solitude and Community

Here’s another clip from the same session as yesterday, building upon the theme of self-knowledge but using the lens of solitude/community to illustrate it. Not a lot to add here, but notice how each experience both reinforces the other and highlights the absurdity of each position. These are all experiences of unity and love in various limiting contexts so we can see a richness that full transcendence cannot impart or at least appreciate.

  • Hatonn on Service and Self-Knowledge

This was a difficult one to clip, because the point when on for a while. Notice however how Hatonn connects service with self-knowledge. There’s a secret here about the purpose of incarnation: that it’s not about simply doing good, STO-style service to each we encounter. It is through service that we discover ourselves, our true identity and nature. Because our nature is never totally understood, our service will never end. We simply offer the love we can, send it out into the world, and learn about the self “out there” that teaches us something about the self “in here.”

It’s a great reminder that service is not something we are merely commanded from on high to do. It is the crucial means of growth, and since we cannot help but serve, it is more like a wind blowing through us. Our actions then reflect and demonstrate how we have modulated that wind and allow us the feedback we need to dial it in. And if you think of the feedback solely as being a matter of us “doing right” or “being punished,” you lose the sublimity of the Creator’s process and how perfectly your life serves Its agenda.

  • Hatonn on the Interference of the Intellect

The core takeaway from this passage is to understand the counter-intellectual nature of the Confederation’s message, I believe. When we begin to make a relationship to this philosophy from our waking personality, we’re in serious trouble, because we are forming a partnership that cannot reliably benefit the personality. Meditation is a way that we key into the deeper nature of our identity and form the relationship at that level, with the waking personality slowly and delicately trained to be a servant of that alliance in which it has no obvious and direct interest. Like the fool archetype, the personality must make a completely illogical and ridiculously stupid leap of faith in a sacrifice to that which is greater than it. Only then does the personality, thusly disciplined and refined, begin to catch some glimmers of the underlying process of spiritual evolution that cannot possibly make sense to it.

To me, part of the story of spiritual evolution in third density is learning how we’re living multiple lives at once at different levels of awareness. We’re living in (a) metaphysical world(s) and a physical world. Through one life we’re having effects in multiple planes.

  • Hatonn on the Function of Meditation

These remarks on meditation are sublime, and I’d like to offer some thoughts on some things they indicate. First, it’s about identity and its ability to be shifted. All of the cares and worries of our incarnation exist within a context of a specific identity; in other words, they aren’t just cares and worries floating freely but only in relation to a self in a certain awareness. So we never have to unplug from that awareness per se — that’s the impulse to live the hermit life and just avoid all the catalyst that accrues to the incarnate personality. Instead, we just take a moment to “zoom out” from that identity to a bigger, more expansive “self.”

When we are able to do this “extrasociation” on the fly in a controlled way, we get a better glimpse of the functional pieces of the illusion’s catalyst, because we’ve moved from a position of being directly subjected to it to indirectly subjected to it. We then have the opportunity to see it working, to see our waking personalities from a position of remove in which we aren’t simply reacting to the incoming stimuli. Hatonn ties this all up with remarks on our spirit’s purpose in incarnation and an allegory by which we can understand painful things.

  • Hatonn on Chosen Challenges in Life

Once again I’m forced to choose between Carla’s portion and H’s portion in a 1976 session. Carla’s instrument is just so much more lyrical and inspiring! This is good advice for those who rightly and rationally look at the suffering and hardship in their lives and question a beneficent Creator. Not only is it beyond our ability to emotionally ground the authorship and purpose of these experiences, but it would undermine the very purpose of the testing this catalyst effects to know that! This is why meditation, patience, and love are keys not simply to happiness and equanimity, but to penetrating the illusion.

What is it about the illusion that is the most illusory? The separation of objects? The rippling and shimmering changes before our eyes that time unfurls? Or the emotional and psychological weight of living in the seeming cage of the body, looking out into a hall of mirrors, none of which look like what you’ve decided you are?

  • Auxhall on Experience and Instrumentality

Here’s another excerpt from the same transcript I shared from yesterday, building upon Auxhall’s ideas about brotherhood. Carla’s part focused on how to serve our other selves, but H’s (likely Hal Price, but I can’t be certain) section delves more into serving the Creator, the nature of instrumentality, and how individual experience and service are aggregated into the Creator’s learning. And it is through the very limitations we press against that we offer this learning to the Creator. If we can trust in the Creator and realizing It’s will, the architecture of transmission of this light and experience can benefit us, no matter which level of “us” we’re thinking of.

  • Auxhall on Brotherhood

Going back over the transcripts I read morning after morning for ten years has been wild. There’s so many nuggets of beautiful insight that I glossed over just to take it all in, but maybe that is always what an initial read of an archive entails. In any case, here’s one that I distinctly remember as absolutely pivotal both in capturing my heart and in my neglect of it afterwards, for its message could have been vital guidance in certain organizational conflicts in which I later engaged.

This session has many high points and I’ll probably write something about another passage in here later, but this to me is the most poignant, speaking directly to the kind of spiritual solidarity I’ve felt motivated by for some time. We typically think coming together in the name of our Creator is some sort of thing we arrange and negotiate with each other, and quite rightly so. It seems that the harmony we seek is something expressed in how our individual characteristics mingle, and that unless we attend to these dynamics carefully we are simply creating an untenable alliance. Auxhall is here to tell us, no: it is not for our sake that we love and accept and withhold judgement from our brothers and sisters, because we don’t consciously see far enough to even judge ourselves, let alone another.

  • Hatonn on Relying upon the Creator

This is a longer session for 70’s Hatonn and there’s a few different gold nuggets in here among the more transient questions. However, I think this part right at the outset is the most useful to the seeker. When we reflect upon our conduct and our service, we sometimes wish we had done this instead of that, said this instead of that, and this is good catalyst for our future growth. But Hatonn reminds us that there really is only one choice: to connect with the Creator within us or to try to eek it out ourselves. Our human beingness as understood in the illusion simply does not have the resources to meet the moment reliably, and so castigating ourselves for doing the wrong thing—rather than listening to the wrong voice—is a distortion of the true lesson at hand. Good food for thought.

Also see the Q&A for very interesting discussions on the nature of channeling, the different ET contacts’ densities of origin, and especially an interesting comment about the arguable godfather of Confederation contact, George Van Tassel.

  • The boundaries of the logoic chain

“Logoic chain” is a term Auxhall employed recently to describe how the Logos fractally penetrates the illusion by stepping down in consciousness. While it is a novel term it’s just putting a label on what Ra discussed in session 29; that we are sub-sub-Logos to the sun (sub-Logos) which is sub-Logos to the Logos of our sector. There seems to be a link between spiritual evolution of consciousness and this patrimony in the Logoic chain.

The question is: in a creation of uttery unity, what does membership in this chain actually entail? I imagine it has something to do with multiple levels of perceptive agency involved in the Creator’s exploration of its own nature. I’m specifically interested in this regarding my studies of thought forms. Auxhall makes a distinction between generators of thought forms and the thought forms themselves, but it seems to me that a lot of what we consider “us” dovetails with the properties of thought forms that they list.

  • Hatonn on Finding the Simplicity of Seeking

Here you can see Hatonn articulating a crude but anticipatory concept of our different complexes comprising ourselves, especially the body complex and spirit complex relating through mind. There’s almost a contrast of sorts between this kind of structured beingness and the “angels” they describe, and our experience is one of complexity that obscures the simplicity of love. And this complexity they locate, once again calling to Ra’s message, in a choice.

It is a pain to examine the self carefully. We are a tightly choreographed production, my other selves; as Mr. C says in Twin Peaks: The Return to Phyllis Hastings, “you follow human nature perfectly.” Oh we do, even in our faults and failings. We are immersed in a crash course in being a flesh and blood human, and to go to the trouble to look closely at it can be confusing at best, painful at worst.

  • Hatonn on the Singularity of Love

It’s funny because really you could call every Hatonn session in the archive, “Hatonn on Love”. They truly excel at teasing apart all the component characteristics of this all-encompassing force. Even in their latest contact with the Richmond circle they speak rather philosophically about the ontological tensions involved in the illusion of separation, yet what is the blending of energies they speak of but yet another manifestation of the reality of this drawing force of love?

That makes this a fitting complement to that message last month. So what’s love this time, Hatonn? Well, it’s as if love gives us the true map of what is worth seeking in our lives. And in this sense it seems to have a lot to do with attention, because that is what is going to direct our consciousness to the next unlikely example of love. Just as Hatonn recently spoke of the figment involved in dicing up unity into separate objects and then grappling with cause and effect, here they talk about the necessity of both that which yields and that which arrests, that which constrains and that which frees. In other words, though we often fret about our polarity in terms of fourth density harvest, the real truth is that both the negative and positive are needed in order for us to move spiritually.

  • Hatonn on Effort and Responsibility in Seeking

This entire session is fantastic, including H’s opening (likely Hal Price through whom Hatonn is talking about harvest in 1976) as well as B’s closing. I’m also omitting Carla picking up on an unanswered question which I considered making the focus instead of this excerpt, but I think this is more valuable to the seeker if I have to choose. You don’t have to choose – go read it!

What I found notable about this session was the connection between effort and fruition, something I’ve often considered not only from a Confederation point of view but also through other spiritual works. The message amongst the best of them is very similar: that there is a time for exertion, for stretching and striving, and a time for being and listening and receiving. Learning how to oscillate between these two states is natural but not trivial, and Hatonn places a great deal of emphasis on the cultural and social impediments to thinking in the proper way (the proper manner of thought is something H discusses).

  • Laitos on the Conditioning Wave

The conditioning wave was previously discussed in this 1974 session which we addressed about six months ago. This wave is typically dealt with in our philosophy as a subjective signal of contact to an instrument. However, it’s worth mentioning that those of Laitos see it as a much broader transmission of helpful love that can occur completely outside the channeling context.

In fact, they even go one step further than, essentially implying that meditation’s ultimate goal is contact with one’s higher self. Think about that: does that not place all channeled contact in a very interesting context, especially given that we know all contact with outer planes complexes occurs through the higher self? For those of you interested in making contact, I hope you’ll consider that a group isn’t necessary: only the seeking in meditation.

  • Hatonn on Power

Just realized this excerpt is from exactly 49 years ago today! Pretty cool it was my reading this morning.

A few things to point out about this excerpt. I could have included the opening remarks channeled by B, but it would have been too long. Note that B’s message almost seemed to be going in a direction that indicated the accumulation of knowledge, while an infinite task, was itself the project. Then the connection fizzled out, and Carla’s message dialed it in. I’ve definitely seen this happen with multi-instrument channeling sessions more than once, and this is a good example of the phenomenon. What one instrument picks up on may not have the full intention attached to it, but it triggers the appropriate context in the next instrument. This is how a contact can play the circle’s instruments like an orchestra, using the tuba when appropriate and the piccolo when that’s the right sound. The point is the communication of the information and inspiration, not necessarily the performance of a given instrument. Just goes to show you that even in distortion we serve.

They suggest the most efficient use of pain involves feeling it deeply, and they encourage the friends of the afflicted to open themselves as well to this pain and provide company for the journey. Commentary is also provided on drugs, working with addiction and pain through thought forms, and providing offering ideas for meditation with a playfulness that will be recognized by the other self.

In this short session inaugurating the Richmond Meditation Circle’s 2025 Invitational, Hatonn pays a long overdue visit to discuss how the mysteries of oneness might be recognized in the illusion. Starting from the energetic nature of contact between the circle and their complex, they place before the seeker the choice of how they might perceive and make sense of outer events. This heuristic is extended to material objects and the operation of cause and effect, showing how the blending of energies enabling communication between the circle and Hatonn can be found analogously in all aspects of the illusion. The ubiquitous presence of this blending provides a hint about the unity behind the appearance of separation.

This is one of the first appearances of the fifth density social memory complex Latuii, here identified as “Lattoo” by Carla. There are several notable passages in their answers to group questions that presage future messages from Ra: the concept of wanderers (or “apple” to use an archaic term in the Confederation lineage), the graduation from second to third density sans any mention of “densities,” and a discussion of anomalous zones like the Bermuda Triangle. The final question from the group asks about how to rest and recover one’s strength, and it is here that I take my excerpt. It shows a glimmer of the humor that Latuii will be bringing to bear in future sessions, and if Q’uo ever shows a sense of jokiness you now know from which sector of the principle it arises! There’s also one of the first mentions of the “light touch” and the relative unimportance of diet details, something Ra recapitulates less than five years later.

In this session, Hatonn speaks about “progression,” which they describe earlier through “B” as akin to “walking the path” of spiritual seeking (there’s an interesting mention of “swaying side to side” on the path that sounds similar to Ra’s description of the transformation of mind archetype, but that’s not particularly germane at the moment). The message that follows B’s speaks of how to tie that progression to the day-to-day reflection on experience. There’s also a great point about what service relevant to analyzing experience, and how it is by yielding to the Creator, not coming up with our own plan or waiting for the world to change, that we find our path to service and growth towards the upward spiraling light.

    • Meta/Legacy—

OK, here you see me struggling with getting a concise excerpt from this session. The segment channeled by Carla was good, but I thought this one featuring “H” – who I am pretty sure must be Hal Price – got into some more interesting territory. Hatonn discusses the nature of analysis both positively, as a way an individual subjectively wrestles with the information received, and negatively, as a impediment to the love for which the concepts and words are mere carrier waves. The process of working with this information is the same now as it was fifty years ago: one of employing both the intuition and the intellect, taking personal responsibility for the insights each faculty conveys to the seeker while appreciating the tentative and incomplete nature of these analyses.

This leads Hatonn to an interesting take on “you create your own reality.” The way I see their words is that it is the very uniqueness of our perspective that imbues our creative nature with that singularly divine quality. Our subjective and personal interpretation of the events we are witness to seems to me to comprise the Creator’s investigation of itself in the guise of our seemingly limited and separate status. And just as we are the projected, attenuated focus of the Creator’s awareness, our circle is beginning to learn that we have this same role in relation to the planet as well. It is our job not to elevate our intellectual civilizing over the natural processes of the Earth in an act of domination and control, but instead to learn how our self-awareness and mental acuity is part of the planet’s emergence into self-awareness.

I’m hoping our circle will be able to address this topic more soon, perhaps at our invitational event this weekend. In the meantime, enough interpretation! Here’s Hatonn:

I am Hatonn. I am now with this instrument. When we speak of the concept of love, we attempt to the best of our ability to bring to you our understanding of a concept which is infinite and unfolding to us and to you at all times. A concept which contains, shall we say, the explanation of all things. A concept which is much more than you shall ever realize by the utilization of your intellect. We bring to you those messages which we feel shall assist in your spiritual growth and in your intellectual understanding. We bring to you our love and our light. We offer to you an opportunity–which has been brought about by your own thinking, through your own desire–and that opportunity is for you to come into the light through understanding and experience, to come into the light of the Creator and experience His love and know the concepts of which we speak, enjoying with us and all of our universal brothers in service that which we call the Creator.

Each individual whom we are privileged to make contact with is presented with this opportunity, with our experiences, into our light. We can offer no more at the present time. But also, there is no need for there to be any more offered. For if you are open, if you are truly seeking what you refer to as the truth, then you shall recognize it as it is presented and you shall accept it and you shall do with it to the best of your ability that which you [inaudible]. It is you and no other who must analyze that which you receive. It is you who must accept the love. It is you who creates all that you experience. And we would not have been able to share with you our knowledge if it were not for the fact that in truth you were seeking this knowledge.

We are somewhat limited, even through this process, for we must deal with the intellect of each individual. And the individuals, all of them with whom we communicate, have accepted many limitations due to their experiences within this life and we must break not those imitations too quickly. We must offer only that which we feel can be accepted and allow it to be dealt with.

We give to you, and so also do you give to us, the love of which we speak. We cannot begin to explain the great feeling of love we have for those upon your planet and, indeed, for those who would be willing to listen. We are here for this purpose, to assist in the evolution of human thought of man upon planet Earth. Yet we cannot assist without it being requested, for within what you might call the society or upon the level on which we exist, this is a law–that you may not interfere with the free choice of any individual. And as we deal with the planet Earth as a group consciousness, we must be aware of your requests, of your needs and of your desires and of your choice.

Love, my friends, is all the things of which we speak, and it is all the things for which we have no means of expression. Love is the energy upon which you draw to bring into manifestation all that you experience. Love is to each and every individual different, yet the same. The love that permeates throughout the universe is indeed the Creator. The love that is within you is indeed the Creator. You must recognize that the love that is within all individuals is the Creator. You have heard this concept many times. There is what you would call “God” within each individual and you are constantly emanating that energy, that love, of the Creator in all directions, in all your thoughts. Be cautious, indeed, be cautious of that which you project towards your fellow man and towards the universe, for you are the Creator and that which you project shall indeed come into existence and it shall also travel back and affect you, for you are the Creator and you must live within your creation.

Through the process of meditation you may bring into focus the proper, shall we say, realization of your ability to create. Through the process of meditation you may become aware of your divinity and of the divinity of all things. We hope that through the process of meditation you may attune yourselves to the love energies that are constantly about you and that through these energies may be brought about the understanding that you seek and the experiences you desire and the purification of consciousness which is in truth the desire of all those upon your planet. This desire may not come into the realization of each person upon your planet, but as you become more aware, you shall indeed recognize that that desire is within each of us, whether they seek it consciously or not.

You are the only, shall we say, emanation of the Creator that has the ability to formulate your experience. You may share with others in your experiences and you may choose to dwell within the experiences created by others, yet no other can create for you any experience, for you are the Creator, and it is your choice.

  • Hatonn on the Ideal, the Manifest, and Love

This message from Hatonn seems ordinary and mundane: once again prattling on about love. However, pay close attention to what they are saying about ideals and how manifestation instantiates them without the need for perfect conformity to their template. This is just Platonism in a way, sure, but the kicker is how to take this same thinking and apply it to the power of love underlying all qualities. And then, how does this application realize the harmony we seek, the vibrancy that draws us forward in our seeking?

Hatonn was fond of telling stories through Carla’s instrument, and this was one of the first. It seems like these stories were ways of illustrating the concepts Confederation entities wished to impart without overly abstracting things. One can see why that might be necessary given the message later in the channeling about the proper role of the intellect in these matters.

However, I find the message of this story to be utterly important to opening to love as it is. In my opinion, the use of sense perception to see through the illusion to the underlying love is one of the most important things to learn, and it’s something I still seek to attain. But its not an attainment of accruing skill and insight so much as releasing that which we’ve amalgamated unto ourselves. Love is simplicity, and it is upon that simple foundation that we build a life of service and harmony.

I would like to share with you now a little story. There was once a boy who had grown wise to the ways of the world about him, for he saw much in his daily life, and he understood much. He understood how to act, and he understood what people wished him to think. And he was a good boy.

And yet there were many things that puzzled him, as he grew, and perhaps the chief of these things was that which the grown-ups kept calling love. And he turned to his parents, and he said, “What is love?” And they said, “Love is honoring your father and your mother, and obeying them.”

And he accepted this and thought on it, and attempted to show love by honoring his father and his mother. And yet he was not satisfied.

And so he went to his teacher. And he said, “Teacher, what is love?” And the teacher said, “Love is doing what the teacher tells you to do, and learning what we ask you to learn here at school.”

And the boy realized that there must be some truth in this. But yet he was not satisfied.

And he went and asked his friend, “Tell me, do you know what love is?” And his friend said, “I am not sure, but I have noticed that when people want something, they say, ‘I love you.’”

And the boy thought on this, and thought, “Perhaps this is closer to what love is than anything I have heard.”

And he puzzled over these things a long time to himself. And one night when he went to sleep, he sailed away in a beautiful ship with wide, billowing sails. And he sailed over a rainbow bridge into the far waters, which he had seen before in his dreams, yet never so clearly as now. And his ship, seeming to know just where to go, harbored itself upon a white beach. And he went onto the glistening sand, and walked into a softly forested area. And there, he saw a beautiful entity in white robes, glistening golden, not with sunlight, but with light coming from the face of the entity itself.

And he asked the radiant being, “Sir, tell me, what is love?” And the radiant being said not a word, but he knelt down and looked into the little boy’s eyes. And the little boy looked back into those luminous eyes. And suddenly his own eyes were changed, and the world was transformed wherever he looked. And he looked around the beautiful forested area. And all seemed to be transformed. All seemed to be alive with joy and love, and he knew what love was because he was seeing it. It was visible to him. Every mote of sand danced with an energy so joyful that it was indescribable to him. And yet he knew that it was love.

The being said not a word, but led him back to his ship. The boy sailed over the rainbow bridge, and back to his bed. And when he woke up in the morning, he remembered. And he looked around his room, and his room was transformed. And his mother came into the room, and he ran to her and hugged her, and said, “I love you.” And he saw his mother transformed into a being that was love.

And he ran to his teacher, and said, “Teacher, I love you.” And the teacher became gentle, compassionate and human, in his eyes alone.

And each thing that he looked at with his eyes of love sent love back to him, for it was all made of love. And the little boy no longer needed to ask what love was.

Love is so simple, my friends, that it cannot be described. It can only be experienced. If you will be as a child, and when you open your eyes, if you will give to the world your love, the world will give you back love. It is a process of recognition of what really is—nothing more.

Normally I excerpt channeled sessions because I’m well aware of the attention span of Reddit, and I can link to this session elsewhere. However, in this case there is nowhere to point you except to a book that is hard to find: Star Wards (1979, Solar Cross Foundation) which catalogs the Confederation channeling of Richard Miller, originally part of the Detroit group who moved to California and started his own group which became the Solar Cross Foundation. I’m hoping over the long run to get more of this material available online, but for now the best available are recordings of the original sessions from this archive as well as my friend Eric’s YouTube channel (not sure if he wants me to reference him more specifically, but I owe him a debt for introducing me to this chapter of the Confederation’s contact with us).

The first documented contacts between Miller’s circle and the Confederation begin in 1955. After a couple of dozen messages from “Mon-Ka,” “Hatonn,” “Soltec,” and others there was a decade of no contact from 1959 to 1969, as best I can gather. This message from Monka is one of the first if not the first of the batch that would continue through the 1970s. While some of the messages from the 50s are claimed to have come through exotic forms of transmission such as short-wave radio and light wave transmission, this message and those following are done exclusively telepathically.

  • Hatonn on Cultivating the Spirit

This Hatonn really hit me because it came up naturally in my reading, and yet it seems to directly align with much of where my current thinking has centered: on the extra-intellectual philosophy of Peter Kingsley as well as the planetary inquiries my circle has made two months back to Oorkas and this weekend to Monka (to be published shortly). It centers on the use of perception combined with meditation to see through the illusion to the reality behind it, and how one gets there through the use of attention. I’ll let Hatonn speak for themselves:

    • Meta/Legacy—

I’m not usually one to bring in outside philosophies into this sub, but sometimes I find that other teachers can explain things in ways that augment Ra’s words. In the same way that I’ve often held that the conscious channeling is more valuable than Ra’s channeling because it grounds the philosophy in human experience, certain teachers can shed light on our philosophy through the alternative vantage point they occupy. I’ve shared Pema Chödrön’s thoughts before (and am working through her explanations on “refraining” for a future post) because she’s so good at explicating the nature of meditation and spiritual practice in everyday language. Now I’d like to share a bit of an excerpt from a book called Reality by Peter Kingsley.

Kingsley is a scholar working on the shamanic traditions in ancient Greece that became what we know today as “philosophy”. Essentially, he argues that the perception of reality as essentially oneness is grounded in Greek philosophy from the get-go, and that later philosophers were the inheritors of this practice but stripped the wisdom of its spiritual “instructions”. For example: Parmenides, the father of logic, brought the principles of logic from the underworld via a dream (a practice in Greece called “incubation”) and the goddess who provided this wisdom also provided direction on how to use logic. It wasn’t just a set of dry calculational principles, but a deep inquiry into the illusion as an illusion – to show how inconsistent and deceptive the reality we perceive actually is.

Of course, nowadays modern science (what Robert Anton Wilson called “fundamentalist materialism”) appropriates logic to winnow down “reality” to what can be “logically” proven (and any student of philosophy is well aware of the epistemological holes in our scientific outlook). Parmenides and his student Zeno taught that, far from escaping the physical senses as false information, it was the use of the senses to the extreme that could demonstrate to the seeker how illusory they were. Obviously, this is a completely different tradition of seeing all as one, a tradition out of which the western world we inhabit was built as a distortion of a spiritual teaching. I can’t recommend the book highly enough.

In any case, another shaman-philosopher he discusses is Empedocles, who was the first to talk about the four elements as the basis of reality. However, I never knew that Empedocles incorporated the mixture and purification of these elements into a cosmic cycle of love (amalgamation and seduction) and strife (distinction and purity) that our souls are constantly going through. It’s arguably a completely different model for the octaval evolution that Ra describes: the universe and we are constantly subject to a process of the elements separating out into purity and then mixing together again, a very interesting way to think of the concept of distortion. And in discussing it, Kingsley brings up one of the best explanations I’ve ever read of the paradox of free will Ra mentions.

Possibly one little problem has been bothering you.

If, for Empedocles, each cosmic cycle comes to an end then there is no point in making the effort to do anything. Every contaminated soul will eventually be purified and returned to heaven. Trying to purify oneself, become better or wiser, seems futile: we might as well just sit back and wait. And for Empedocles himself to go to the trouble of being a teacher, acting as a prophet, tricking us so as to try and wake us up, is useless.

In other words, if everything is basically predestined this leaves us with no real free will.

The problem of choice and necessity is an ancient one. Theologians and philosophers have scratched their heads and pulled their hair out over it for ages.

And yet the solution to the problem is utterly simple. We have no free will at all; but we are predetermined to think we do.

The whole question of free will and predestination, of individual choice and necessity, that has eaten into the West for the past two thousand years is sheer vanity. Free will is an illusion. And the illusion of free will is a part of the cosmic necessity.

The only reason why we make any effort is because the effort is preordained. And our only genuine freedom is to cooperate with necessity. Of course that sounds terribly restrictive to us as humans who want to be separate, individual, different from nature: different from everything. But this is because we have already restricted ourselves by wanting to be so many things. For it’s only when we realize we are not separate at all that we start to become free.

There is no individual freedom whatsoever at the beginning of each cosmic cycle. We are forced to participate quite unconsciously, altogether against our will. But towards the end of each cycle we are under a cosmic obligation to become conscious. So Empedocles has no choice except to make every effort he can to lure us out of our confusion into some greater awareness.

And we are bound to do whatever we can to become more conscious.

As for that original fault or primordial failing of the soul before the beginning of creation in letting itself be polluted: this was nothing it could avoid. In fact ancient Greeks were very familiar with the notion, so paradoxical nowadays to us, that our faults and failings are actually caused by the gods.

But the important thing to understand is that even if the blame for what once happened or happens now is not really ours, we still have to take full responsibility for our illusory failings and suffer all their illusory consequences in this world of total deception.

All our apparent choices have been made for us. And yet we are still obliged to go through the routine, the charade, of seeming to make them. Everything is decided for us-even whether to go on reading this book or not, whether to move our arms, object or agree, get up or stay sitting, think about next week.

Even the longing to become free, to grow in awareness, be more conscious, is predetermined by our inner nature; is our own divine self drawing us to itself. And to become one at last with that inner nature is to realize everything is bound by absolute laws.

Then we are free: free from the illusion of having to choose, free simply to be ourselves.

But when every soul is dragged out of heaven once more at the beginning of a new cycle, as it most definitely will be, the illusion will start all over again.

    - Peter Kingsely, Reality (2004)

He then goes on in the rest of the book (this excerpt is near the end) to talk about this “necessity” that we have the illusory choice of cooperation with or resistance to. This all sounds a lot like evolution; the progressive expression of the innate nature of things. We have a duty/fate to bring this evolution to bear not by acting but by witnessing; to wake up and be the self awareness of the universe witnessing and cooperating with the inherent order in the chaos. It’s not us as third density self-aware beings against un-self-aware nature, but us taking our role in nature as her self awareness.

Later on in the book he talks about how nature is begging us to wake up. This isn’t because we have a choice in the matter so much as it is because we bring something to bear that realizes this necessity. Evolution begins to have a conscious phase, but just like Jesus and Mohammed point out, it is through obedience and submission to divine will that we become most free. It is in transcending the fetters of our individual identity that we become most ourselves in the natural setting to come: fourth density social memory.

  • Hatonn on Embodied Meditation

File under “Ra doesn’t suggest meditation techniques – but Hatonn does!”

I even appreciate some of the more philosophical implications of their technique. First: the idea of recognizing the body as the divine self’s dip into duality and materiality correlates very well with what Q’uo explained to us regarding the Significator of Body archetype. We are in this world of polarity and separation, but Hatonn urges us to not think of ourselves as of this world.

Indeed, I really like the idea that polarity calls to the middle point in some way; it is the existence of extremes that implies the balance. And remember that a center is always inherent in an infinite creation.

The most interesting element to me, however, is the part about feeling into the balance of the body only to release that sense! It’s as if the imbalance draws us into the polarized drama of the illusion, but the balance starts to withdraw us from the illusion. This isn’t absolute – y’all ain’t meditating your way out of the world! – but it opens you up to the true stillness underlying the rambunctious currents of activity that typify awareness for us most of the time. It is once again an example of the mutability of identity inherent in changes in consciousness, and meditation is our ability to tune into these shifts in responsible and incisive ways.

  • Hatonn on Love and the Mission of Contact

Once again, I think this 1976 session is pretty self-explanatory. Only one thing I’d comment on: their juxtaposition of this UFO mission of awakening interest in infinity with the central role of love.

It may seem at times, if we consider ourselves to be wanderers or at least attempting to serve others, that either we must have this (for all intents and purposes in consensus reality) dubious affiliation with aliens or we must focus solely on loving by more directly relating to people on their own terms. But this little excerpt shows that we execute on the fancy mission through being more loving in our mundane daily lives.

  • Hatonn on the Animal, the Societal, and the Spiritual

Everything seems to be falling apart, and it seems clear now that, regardless of what political or social outcomes obtain, we are in a moment of decline. As somebody who has spent (wasted) many brain cycles contemplating the state of politics, I cannot ignore the fear inherent in all of this. As things constantly escalate, as indignities and outrages pile one upon another, it strikes deep to my core and shakes up the sense of self I once had.

For Hatonn, this is normal; this is as it should be. Those who across incarnations have been used to a more harmonious, or at least more functional, society – be that on other planets or historic civilizations here – are caught in a real puzzle now. We are going to have to reach deep down within and channel capacities of ourselves without the typical feedback to which we are used. So this will be stressful for all of us, no matter how “spiritual” we are.

  • Remarks on Meditation (1976)

Another session where the contact’s name is not recorded, although we all know who it probably is. Since Ra is so loathe to share thoughts on proper meditation, I find it interesting when the conscious sources – those who have the admixture of human instrument with Confederation contact – weigh in, having some inkling of how crucial a question this is for many seekers. They place a great deal of significance on “how earnestly you are seeking,” because this earnest desire drives the entire evolutionary process. And I can speak from personal experience that their approach is sound: reading inspirational material and meditating helps one coordinate one’s conscious seeking with the mysterious personal dynamics beyond our attention or grasp.

  • Hatonn on Petty Emotions (1976)

This one hits home, very similar to my all-time favorite Hatonn of May 1, 1983 where they speak of communication as only giving and not taking, how persuasion and making points is completely beside the point of the love that gives communication its import. I have a tendency to be stimulated by conflict; it fires off seratonin or something in my head. I have an intense sense of loyaty for my friends and love nothing more than going to battle for them. It is love, but it is mixed with something quite self-serving and reaffirming to my personality.

But there is no point to make. There is no battle to win. There is only love, and if we focus on the love content of the communication rather than the details of the communication, we will be able to touch that light within others as the Creator has touched our light at our center.

  • Hatonn on Love as Sacrifice (1976)

When I dig into the L/L Research Conscious Channeling Archives, I’m not just trying to find diamonds in the rough. What I find particularly interesting are the thru lines between this earlier work and what Ra ends up articulating. That’s helping me construct a kind of genealogy of contact where I can make sense of work that follows and precedes Ra, understanding the concepts as evolved by increasingly tuned contact as the principles of stable practice are better understood over the course of the 20th century.

But then there are times where the sheer poetry and exuberance of conscious contacts seems to overwhelm Ra’s dry and terse delivery. This is the Confederation in something much closer to “preacher” mode, giving their testimony on the ideas that move the needle of seeking. This topic of love, the generosity it engenders, and the sacrifice that this entails seems to be just one of these moments. It’s a subject that Ra deals with a couple of times making nearly the same point, but it is in the words of Hatonn that I find the inspiration to live this and not simply apply a program from on high.

Welp, this is a rare one: an unidentified contact. Since Carla is channeling here, it’s almost certainly Hatonn. This entire session is extremely packed with good information on channeling, but I wanted to call out this exchange on karma because it gets to a topic my circle has been thinking about.

There’s no doubt that Confederation philosophy considers outward, phenomenal reality to be the instrument by which we learn about ourselves, providing opportunities for catalyst and transformation. However, part of this learning seems to involve applying the learning back into the illusion. I understand the function of a quiz in education, but normally that’s designed to prove to an authority that we learned what they taught. It’s not designed for us to prove anything to ourselves as students.

  • Hatonn on Love as Sacrifice (1976)

Not a lot for me to add here, except that there’s some very interesting comments through a different instrument this session comparing the conditioning wave to the wave of love. • Hatonn on the Selectivity of Unconditional Love (1976)

What a curious, provocative title, huh? Well I’m nothing if not a hype man for the Confederation. I think it’s accurate, because what Hatonn discusses here is what is actually capable of being loved in that cosmic, total, unconditional manner. It’s not our personalities or the details of our lives. All that stuff is a wash, and it does not partake of the purity that calls back to the Creator at all. That is all illusion, and you cannot love something fake.

What you can do, and what I find so fascinating and compelling, is to reach into the illusion to find the reality behind it. This is something that Q’uo mentioned recently at the sixth channeling intensive (especially in this session) where the illusion can be leaned into more to find the truth. Instead of trying to block out that which is false and distorted, backing away from it in an escape manuever, one commits even more to it and through doing so find the solid ground of love and faith and unity under the flimsy and insubstantial illusion.

  • Hatonn on Suffering and Illusion (1976)

I thought this session was a decent shorter one, focusing on a topic that perplexes us all: the justice of suffering. We want justice within the illusion – for suffering to be a thing that is never undeserved – but this undermines its very purpose of refining us as we truly exist in reality. For it to do so, it must seem real but be illusory.

There’s also a hint of something I’ve been very interested in exploring: the way we consciously can push the limit of the “simulation” to the maximum. If I’m understanding the ancient Greek’s ideas on oneness and the illusion, they feel that reality is deep inside the illusion, not something we achieve by rejecting it. We penetrate it by committing ourselves fully to it, while not being of the illusion. To adopt its challenges without adopting its identity seems to be something of the skill or mêtis needed to fully unlock our potential.

  • Hatonn on Pride and Humility (1975)

The last recorded session of 1975 is a real treat, one of those sessions where you find something right at the outset that’s worth sharing here, and reading further only gives you better and better excerpts. I feel like the point of these little posts on reddit is to give as encapsulated a bite of inspiration and teaching as possible; I could post the whole thing, but you can already find that yourself!

Anyway, Carla often stated spiritual pride was her biggest hangup. To label humility as itself a stumbling block must have struck her conscious mind as curious at best. This is where we see the cosmic outlook of the Confederation tugging at Carla’s Christianity, coaxing her to see things in a more nuanced manner. In truth, her personality – everybody’s personality – is not a fixed thing, but a dynamic tension between opposing qualities.

  • Hatonn on the Desire of the Shepherd (1975)

This is a great example of the tidbits of Carla’s Christianity coming through in useful ways that augment the Confederation’s philosophy and give the Christian spin on the “shepherd” archetype a twist. Where does the compassion to serve others come from? When is the “imperfection of ambition” warranted? When is too little seriousness bad – and when is too much bad? All in the course of four short paragraphs, Hatonn via Carla gives us much to consider.

I am Hatonn. I am now with this instrument, and for a brief time I will speak using this instrument. We speak to you once again because there are things which we wish to say to you that do not apply to all those who are in the larger group. For always, my friends, there are various peoples at various levels of understanding. And we do not speak beyond the ears of those who hear, for that only breeds confusion.

To you we speak of shepherds. For truly, you may look upon your little world as being made up of those who need care, and those who may do the caring. We speak to you of the compassion of the shepherd. Where does the compassion come from? What will inspire you to the compassion of the shepherd with his sheep?

We ask that you remember that the universe is not deadly serious, but rather is a universe of love and joy, of lightness and laughter. It is not necessary that you be so deadly serious that you insist upon absolute compassion within yourself. It is enough, my friends, if you accept a certain lighthearted desire to pretend, shall we say, to be somewhat similar to a compassionate shepherd. You are not attempting to fool the sheep into thinking you are compassionate. You are attempting to fool yourself, from a condition of illusion to a condition of reality. You know, my friends, you cannot bludgeon yourselves into this state of shepherd. Yet you must shepherd yourself, gently and coaxingly and with humor. You may act similarly to that which you would consider to be compassionate and slowly you will discover that you are not acting. But allow yourself that imperfection of ambition which is within the illusion. For you are learning, my friends.

What differentiates you from the sheep, then, who are also learning? There is a broad line that cannot be crossed by sheep, and that line is the desire to know. Sheep will be led, and if they are lost, they must be found. But the shepherds, my friends, have desire to know, in order that they may serve. This desire of yours, to know the Creator and to serve Him—this desire is all that you need to be upon the path of the shepherd. Follow it in joy and humor, for being deadly serious will cause you to stumble.

First, I’ll get the headline out of the way: all the people who prefer “service-to-all” over “service-to-others”? Here’s your ammunition.

Service is the dynamic connection between all the parts of the Creator that realizes their inherent unity. And when we contribute actively to that unity, we are both serving as an other self and creating as the Creator.

  • Remembering Carla on the tenth anniversary of her passing into larger life

Ten years ago, I was in the midst of a tumultuous and life-changing transformation. In the middle of this storm of catalyst and galvanized seeking, I learned that the 20th century’s most talented and hardest working instrument for the Confederation, Carla Lisbeth Rueckert McCarty, had passed. The loss of Carla hit all of us in the larger L/L Research community hard; as much as we mourned her passing, little did we know how much her cheerful and wise counsel would be missed as we all attempted to navigate the 21st century’s chaos, both as a planet and as individual seekers.

Nobody who knew Carla even moderately well could mistake her as anything but the heart and soul of the L/L Research project. She brought seemingly unlimited enthusiasm for the mystery of seeking, but she never abandoned her Christian roots, setting an example of how to live the exacting life of an instrument in substance, not by making a fancy celebrity of herself. Her role at the center of the project was one that gushed out of her spirit, not a lofty position she seized and protected politically. After all, she and Jim McCarty often kept L/L Research afloat through sheer faith and determination during the post-Ra contact years, and she knew its fragility well, not just materially but its tuning spiritually.

  • It's channels all the way up, according to Hatonn (1974)

We’ve reached the last documented session of this amazing year, 1974. Hatonn takes a moment before answering the groups admittedly transient questions to distinguish the meditative approach to oneness with the intellectual acceptance of it. Meditation, in part, is a way in which this oneness becomes a reality instead of just a theory we “believe in.”

However, this oneness is not just a feeling that precipitates into the meditator over time. Crucially, this unity of all consciousness is precisely at the heart of the channeling phenomenon to begin with. We are channeling now, and when we channel Hatonn or other Confederation entities, they are giving us words that they themselves are channeling from higher up. Channeling, in summation, seems to be just the way information circulates through the densities and sub-densities.

  • Laitos and Hatonn on the Conditioning Wave (1974)

There’s something mentioned during contact with Ra that isn’t explained very well. It’s a relatively important topic when considering the nuances and mechanics of the Confedeartion tradition of contact, however, and it links Ra with the fourth and fifth density contacts in the 70s: the concept of the conditioning wave.

Here Laitos gives an explanation of the conditioning wave they send. It is an experience that all of the new instruments with whom I’ve worked have noticed – in fact, especially at the last intensive I noticed the new folks were a little freaked out by it. I was able to show them how standard it was for all instruments in our tradition, and I think it was as great a comfort to them as it was to me. Sadly, this topic wasn’t mentioned in my training with L/L Research even though it holds a high degree of prominence in the archives – probably because the last living connection with these earlier experiences passed with Carla.

  • Hatonn on Freedom and Limitation (1974)

This is a crucial nuance to the information coming through Carla and Don’s circle in the early days. Notice how they say that they emphasize the real beauty of Creation to beginning seekers, but over time they seek to become an agitator, an annoyance that keeps us from being satisfied with the current limitations under which we labor. This is all in service to waking us up (something Ra has explained they cannot make happen, but I suppose they can help happen if it’s already desired sufficiently), but we are not waking up to a freedom of no responsibilities and no stakes. Instead we are waking up to a more demanding version of the same life we know, with an added level of responsibility concomitant with our status as the Creator.

This is what it means to be the Creator, apparently: the freedom to create, and the responsibility that entails inside of the illusion. To be free, we must be responsive to reality and its feedback through the guise of the illusion instead of blissfully ignorant. This responsiveness is in its way love, but you can start to see the focusing, artfully chosen limitations as a creeping wisdom coming into play.

  • Hatonn on the Reaction Test (1974)

In this session Hatonn addresses the purpose of the illusion: to test our reactions to each aspect of the Creator streaming through It’s many guises. Rather than life being a process of avoiding that which knocks us off our center, life is catalyzed by this refusal to avoid, to simply locate the Creator/self in what we experience and greet it with love. As this reaction becomes more automatic, we free ourselves to be more genuinely creative in the moment, identify opportunities that did not previously disclose themselves, and serve more fully.

Now you might respond that this sounds like an intellectual model imposed upon experience, a way to make things theoretical and abstract and distance ourselves from the true affective work here. And that is, in a way, true. But this gets into the purpose of the intellect, as I see it: to provide focus. It need not divorce us from the immediacy of the primal emotions we feel, but it can provide a framing, a context, that allows us to have self-created experiences that ride along with other-self-created experiences.

  • Laitos On Polarization 2024

title: Laitos on Polarization (2024) layout: post date: 2025-03-04 categories:

    • Meta/Legacy—

Here’s an excerpt from a Richmond Meditation Circle session with Laitos offering some details about the function of polarity in excess of “working with a certain intensity of light” as Ra puts it. Polarization works with our ability to wield the metaphysical power of beingness of which manifest action in the third density illusion is merely the trailing after-effects. However, because of the solid, undeniable, clear (relative to other illusions) feedback that such after-effects entail, it provides inflection points for the development and honing of this power.

I especially appreciate Laitos contrasting polarization with the polarity balance of the Creator at large; it’s clear that the capacity for power we are developing is something built to distinguish our experience from the total Creator’s, and this would normally be an indicator of a gross tendency towards separation and illusion. Laitos makes clear therefore that the asymmetry of energetic balance we are seeking in third density is merely instrumental, and that in sixth density we shall have plenty of space to fine tune this – perhaps through further wandering in third density planets (more on that here).

In this density of third, you are attempting to test yourself, you see. You have an important task at hand. And if you were to see the entire lay of the land, so to speak, it would diminish your concentration upon the studies for this test. The test is designed to focus you. It is designed so that you may learn how to focus yourselves in a very particular way. It is not a perfect test, and it is not without consequences that fail to lead to a perfect outcome immediately, any more than your current education leaves no stones unturned.3 No, some excel at some subjects better than others, but it is the ability to learn that must be honed or the education is for naught.

Let us extend this metaphor to polarity. It is extremely important that you learn how to channel the Creator’s energy with a certain sincerity, with a certain vibratory frequency, because in fourth density, fifth density, and onwards the illusion is much more difficult to evolve within. You will not have the props of a solid, stable density of condensed matter such as you enjoy now. You will have access much more readily to the time/space illusion, and in this illusion you will enjoy a fluidity that will give you great freedom—so much freedom, in fact, that it will be difficult to always achieve the level of focus necessary to continue your studies, to extend your evolution into the unknown and the uncomfortable.

So now you learn a very, very important skill, and it is to love without exception or stint in one of two ways, my brothers and sisters. In the first way, you learn what individuation is for: it is a conduit for the expression of the Creator’s energies out into the creation, so that new processes and new creations may obtain. This must be done in a generous and loving spirit in order for the efficiency to reach the peak of what is possible, and we call this polarity “service-to-others,” a very curious name, for it is impossible in a way not to serve others. So let us explain this in more depth by showing you its opposite, the other side of the pole.

On this other side is great intensity indeed; in some ways, even more intensity in the manner that you recognize it, and it has to do with a congruent intensity of energy channeling that is not primarily extended out of the self, but instead draws within the self and pulls creation into it. It is a way of understanding the Creator, for the Creator has this selfish, domineering aspect as well as the radiant, generous aspect. But the Creator has it in balance, and you in third density are in a way learning how to maintain a balance with the exception of this one pole of energy valence. Service-to-self is what we of the Confederation call this other, inward, ingressing flow of energy in which energy is mastered and controlled and then used as a way to exercise manipulation over the creation.

In a functioning creation, both poles are as necessary as a heartbeat: in and out. But you must choose which direction your blood will pump at this level and learn the opposite once you have had this asymmetry push you through the lessons of fourth and fifth density into the sixth where, as our brothers and sisters of Ra have explained, these paradoxes are resolved; not because they change, but because you have that more holistic perspective that the act of polarization has given the motive power to aspire to. All is well in the end, but we speak of this closing of distance between your density and the next, such that you can see a self moving in that direction and continuing with the project of expressing and glorifying our One Infinite Creator.

  • Hatonn on the Meaning of Life (1974)

What I find striking in this passage is Hatonn’s careful description of what truth, once recognized and acknowledged, will feel like – not what it is. Words simply will not capture it. That’s an important clue for those of us who overrely on the intellect; whenever we catch ourselves thinking about this stuff, we can safely be assured that we’re not there yet.

It puts Pema Chödrön’s technique for stilling thoughts in perspective, actually. She advises that when you notice a busy mind pulling you in the direction of discursive thought, just label that whole experience of thinking, “thinking.” Just notice it and say to yourself, “that’s thinking.” It’s the via negativa of meditation: if it’s thought, it’s not what we’re after, and it can be safely released.

  • Hatonn on Bands of Energy (1974)

As a chaser for that last session where Hatonn said “don’t think about densities,” Hatonn here essentially bring densities all up again, at least in the sense of those sub-densities Ra mentioned. It is, I suppose, a good way of roughly locating particular kinds of desire in the spectrum of humanity out there, as well as a means by which one can, perhaps in retrospect, see one’s location oneself. It’s interesting as well to see graduation through these subdensities as in part about exhausting the lower energy to make room for the higher.

To me what is key here is the universal thread of desire that runs through all of this, especially how that maps to the movement of the “universal mind” both in promoting transmutation of energy as well as arresting it. One way of viewing incarnation is the recognition of all of these different sides of the Original Desire. Therefore, as in past sessions, Hatonn makes a kind of equivalence between the fruits of experience and the fruits of meditation that cannot possibly be considered too exactingly.

  • Hatonn's Meditation Technique (1974)

In 49.7 Ra refuses to provide Don with a meditation technique. However, their student Hatonn did this a couple of years prior, and I find it very simple and streamlined. If meditation is something that has eluded you because it’s simply so unstructured – and let me be clear, there is great, great value in unstructured, “pure” meditation without object or goal – this technique of Hatonn’s may be something you can work with. I’m thinking I may do an inaudible episode on this just because it’s very clean while also offering opportunities for reflection on what meditation actually entails, its meaning in our lives and seeking.

Do yourself a favor and read the whole session, it’s great and a fantastic example of the kind of seeking that led that group to make sixth density contact eventually.

  • Hatonn on Spiritual Materialism (1974)

I just ran into this session, and I think it has a fantastic counterpoint to much of the nature of the seeking we engage in. To the extent that such seeking draws us closer to the mystery of unity, it’s all great, of course, but there is friction in the intellectual elements that we consider part of the philosophy. Because these details draw concentration and attention, they influence awareness, holding the danger of distraction and dogmatization. Remember what Ra said: “Always begin and end in the Creator, not in technique.”

Now, I don’t think this means that all focus on technique is necessarily bad or negative; it’s simply a matter of emphasis, much like their advice on transient information. For between the beginning in the Creator and the ending in the Creator, there is a lot of space, and this space is explored as an art that perhaps requires the concentration of awareness on the mundane technique at times. I suppose the main point is to not forget the why of it all, huh?

  • Hatonn on the Point of View in Seeking (1974)

I don’t have a lot to say about this. I will say that this idea that “we don’t live our own life” is very fruitful contemplation. It’s very much in line with the other spiritual reading I’ve been doing, especially the work of Peter Kingsley and the profoundly, scarily transformative potentials involved in really paying attention.

And in my experience, it’s the discovery of these different qualities of the ground of our seeking, new elements of subjectivity that help us turn the crystal of consciousness to see another facet, that help deepen our faith and curiosity in a stultifying and enervating third density yellow ray social complex where we all have to make our coin.

  • Auxhall on Imagination

I rediscovered in this some of the first hints the Confederation gave our circle about the nature of projection as a fundamental dynamic of consciousness, an ideal that the phenomena of physical radiation and light merely distort. One can see why imagination properly focused with sufficient attention is so powerful: it bridges between the noumenal and the phenomenal which then provides that crucial element out of which all catalysis arises: feedback. That time limits its fruitfulness must comprise at least some of its value and much of its effective power, conveying into the matrix of existence the raw potential lying behind it. It is for just that reason that this is a good example, perhaps, of what spirit complex introduces to the mind/body complex: the ability to use mind not simply to respond to stimuli but to channel intelligent infinity into new forms. This constitutes the double feedback loop of the mind/body/spirit complex: a loop between body and mind, matter and thought, and a loop between spirit and mind, intelligent infinity and the concept of free will/separation that allows for the collapsing of that infinity.

  • Hatonn on Service and Polarity (1974)

The title should give away the reason this is interesting to me: this is Hatonn in 1974 talking about “polarization”, “service to others” and “service to oneself.” The point being that these ideas were being worked out in conscious channeling already over five years before contact with those of Ra occurred. These are actually in my view some pretty sophisticated and novel concepts being articulated before Ra gave these terms their precision and full scope of meaning. We take this stuff as granted now; it was still being worked out in the 70s.

This is part of ther reason why I always encourage people to read Confederation channeling prior to Ra. It’s important to see the role Ra plays in the development of this philosophy: not one of origination so much as focus, precision, and orientation. There were hundreds of monologues with fourth and fifth density contacts before sixth density contact was available, and sessions like this show how that groundwork was laid. It also helps us better see exactly what the sixth density brings in that is above and beyond lower density messages; we can start to see the real vibration involved in contrast.

  • Names are hard! (First Telonn, 1974)

I encourage dedicated scholars of this material to take a moment to review the first appearance of each contact in the archive. There’s often some interesting notes about how the name is prounounced. In this session, we see Carla struggling a bit with this name – in the archive it’s considered contact with “Telonn” but only in retrospect. Look at the first Q’uo in 1986, too – there’s direction on how it is truly pronounced and also intimations that, at least at that time, Q’uo’s composite nature was not really perceived.

But the more interesting item in this session is the first mention of purified emotions. I addressed this subject at length on my podcast but it’s interesting how already you can see a link between emotion and the archetypal mind as well as the continuum with thought.

  • Hatonn on the Guardianship of Earth (1958)

This is interesting, and I don’t have any comments.

    The Guardianship of Earth

    (Richard channeling)

Greetings, Oh Children of the “Light.” I am Hatonn. It is my great privilege to speak at this time on a subject which I would like to call, The Guardianship of Your Planet.

As you are aware, the planet Earth occupies a unique position at this time in the history of your Solar System. It was necessary for my being to travel to the planet Mars in order to address you at this time. Fortunately, certain records were available to me, and from these, I believe, we may present a more interesting sidelight to this entire topic.

People of Earth, knowing of this great truth: that your planet does not reside alone in the Cosmos, it should be apparent that there is a great purpose even in its existence. I have mentioned that your planet had a great heritage to experience. I would take this opportunity to discuss this.

At the time of early life upon your planet, the original inhabitants were gifted with amazing powers and abilities and were subject to various forms of environmental conditions; to certain qualities peculiar to the planet Earth’s own vibrations.

Due to the subtle workings that you have encountered in many of your religious works, it is apparent and well known that a great darkness descended upon your people. However, there is always the eternal purpose of our Creator, which states that on planets with positive evolution, the “Light” will always dispel darkness, no matter how intense.

So, your infant races overcame their liabilities and started again on an upward progression. Soon, it seems that certain forces (alien intervention) entered into the environment of your planet and created conditions of a chaotic nature. These led again, unfortunately, to conditions which caused a great conflict among two of your ancient races, known as Atlantean and Lemurian.

Since, as I have mentioned, the forces causing this conflict were alien to your planet, it was decreed and ordered that all of those who had not totally undergone a disintegration of that known as spirit and character, should be removed to other inhabited planets within this Solar System and others nearby. There was a great evacuation. You may reference it in time, and may find a rather vague account in which much meaning is hidden in archaic language and stilted symbolism; in the account of a “great flood” and a ship carrying the survivors of all known life. (Hatonn is referring to the legendary account of Noah and the Ark. However, he is placing this event, in time, following the destruction of Atlantis and Lemuria. This implies that our current historical theories regarding this event are incorrect regarding the time of the “Great Flood.”)

Due to the conditions which existed upon your planet for a considerable length of time, those ones who had been partially touched by the alien brain control forces but who had managed to survive, migrated to various areas throughout your world; some to the region you know as your South American continent, while others went to those places known as Asia and your Far East.

Again, a long progression started upon its upward trend. The results are those that are visible about you at this time. In the past, due to the nature of our galactic laws and those codes we live under and by, our Confederation has been allowed merely to observe and aid in small ways, the people upon your planet.

Our main concern and one of our chief duties is to see that those forces, which were alien to the Earth, are not allowed to consummate any further activities that would be considered detrimental to your evolution. Your people failed once (the period of the great abomination) in its upward climb. This second failing was not considered to be your fault nor of your doing. There shall be no third time, people of Earth. Many who hear or see my words will come to realize that all may change upon your planet. It is to undergo a great change. However, you are not unique. All planets in this Solar System are undergoing similar stages of change as even your scientists with their limited views can perceive. The universe is never at rest. It is constantly in movement. One unique characteristic of this drifting movement is that a Solar System constantly encounters new areas of space. This is true of planets, solar systems, galaxies, and of the universe as a whole.

This entire planetary system, from which I address you, is undergoing great change brought about by many forces. It is no longer a question of our accepting a policy of non-intervention, as such a policy is now being changed. It is a question now of accelerating the rate of progress, of evolution, of enlightenment, of your planet, for even its physical substance must be awakened to a greater degree, as well as its inhabitants. It will not be possible for the rest of this local stellar evolution to complete its cycle, with the other planets concerned, and the neighboring systems in this corner of our galaxy, if the planet Earth does not proceed with it. We may not lose a portion of creation in order to progress. All must undergo the experiences of this change. Our Infinite One in Divine Enlightenment has so expressed His purpose. Therefore, people of Earth, we take great interest in your planet and your people.

We have many motives for wanting to aid you. It is entirely right that you know some of these motives are a question of necessity. However, there are motives far greater in number which are these things all of us of the Confederation hold dear. A certain memory perhaps, an obligation, a sense of that which is just. Many could be enumerated. All of them though, explain why your planet is indeed in a unique position.

We progress together, our brothers. No one will remain behind. I trust certain of my thoughts have reached the minds of many and that a greater degree of that called understanding and awareness will encompass and be a part of your newfound consciousness.

Your planet receives a great deal of this Love, called understanding, called “Light,” from many different locations and sources within our universe. Many great Ones have lent their abilities, their talents, their very beings, in mass, to accomplish that which our Creator has expressed.

Therefore, we of the Confederation now feel that we are called upon to openly greet your peoples – to awaken in them an awareness of that which is. The changes that will necessarily ensue will be in the “Light” of Our Infinite One – they will be correct ones. It is with all humbleness and with great love in our hearts that we do this great work.

Now, you have before you a rather interesting concept; one which contains many truths. It is up to you, people of Earth, how you will accept this, how you will act upon it. To those who sense a far off and yet near glimmering of a Radiance which knows no color, let your minds be opened – let your hearts unfold. Lift up your arms and encompass that which is all.

This ends my little talk at this time. Perhaps, my brothers, we will find even more to talk about as I know that the time again draws near. We have long waited the opportunity to speak with and greet the people of Earth.

Adonai. May the Love and the “Light” of The Infinite One be with you. May all peace be yours. I am Hatonn. Adonai. ☥

This is not so. Wisdom is born of suffering, dilemma, contradiction and pain. The so-called happy times that you experience within the illusion are useful as randomly as are the difficult times, and the intrinsic value of happiness is quite low.

  • Quo On Will And Desire

title: “Q’uo on Will and Desire” layout: post date: 2024-09-21 categories:

    • Meta/Legacy—

Selfhood now is to be understood as consciousness which knows itself to be such and seeks for—well, let us ask: for what does it seek? As it experiences itself in its first-found form, this seeking is only in the interrogative, “for what do I seek?” We find that it is the third density, the density of self-consciousness, where this question must not only be asked, but answered. When we say it must be answered, perhaps we overstate the matter, for surely there is much seeking that goes on beyond the third density. And yet, there is something decisive that happens in third density, and that is what we are referring to now in announcing the necessity of the answer. You will know this decisive moment as what we have called the choice.

It is the choice which comes to function as the ultimate and decisive organizing principle for the energies of the self registered at the level of third density. And the choice is to be understood first and foremost as an act of will; in a way, it is the first or inaugurating act of will. Now, to be sure, this inaugurating act of will that takes place within the inner reaches of self-consciousness is not necessarily, or in fact even frequently, self-conscious. And that gives rise to the realization that what you know as your self-consciousness in fact is a cloud of illumination, shall we say, a cloud of illuminated beingness, shall we say, that rides over a vast abyss of the unilluminated, the darksome, the unexplored domain of beingness where the seeds of desire have always sprouted.

So desire, as it is experienced by a being of self-consciousness, will, in contradistinction to will to which one may hold with clarity, come to the self with a certain measure of chaos attendant. Desire is in itself grounded in and the bearer of a kind of randomness, that it is the business of the conscious entity as it becomes self-conscious to organize into a sense of itself with an eye to the value or standard represented by the choice that has been made or that is being made. But for those who are living within the veiled condition, the manner in which this whole dynamic plays out is, by design, confused. So that where desire leaves off and will begins is never very clear, even as where consciousness becomes self-conscious or self-consciousness shades off into the unconscious is clearly demarcated.

There are thrusts, if you will, of energy born in the unconscious that announce themselves as particular desires, and the being that has newly discovered it is in possession of the awesome capacities introduced by the factor of spirit and its coordinated function of will, for all that, the problem becomes one of assimilating to the higher that which announces itself from below. And in that process lies the whole issue of integration. The integration of which we speak must be ordered to a value, and as we have suggested, that value either can be that all the energies of the self shall be bent on the exaltation of that self or that all the energies of the self shall be bent on the radiant expression of the unifying power of the Creator, which is what we have called service-to-others.

  • Q'uo on Faith and Solidarity

It is faith that is the candle you light in this dark canyon. It will not go out; once lit, it will always smolder in some way, no matter if you turn from it. So there is no challenge that can distract you completely, once you have opened your eyes and left slumber behind, as all in this gathering have done. Keep your mind ready through the practices that all of you have been exposed to. That is all that is required. And then, when it becomes too much, learn to reach out to those you trust, and learn to be there for those who trust you. We cannot give you a perfectly balanced equation for the problem of suffering, but we do know that it is your brothers and sisters who will check your work, so to say, and point out with the most precision where you erred in your reckoning. And then, you begin to appreciate what the mystery of the individual is designed to expose to the Creator. And that, my friends, makes the act of acceptance a little easier and a little better of a lesson that doesn’t get forgotten so easily.

In closing we would offer that this comradeship is also something we stand ready to accept your invitation to. We cannot check your work as those here can, but if you would but call upon us, or any of those guides, helpers, angels that you feel a kinship with when you are in a dark place, my friends, we would be honored to share that with you. For one of the mysteries of the heartache of this illusion is that by sharing it, we lessen it, we redistribute the pain, and in this way, we build a strength. And if you knew the power that this built, you would shudder. So it is a good thing that you are veiled from your total selves. It will not be forever, and the resources are there. Avail yourself through meditation, through contemplation and silence, and let yourself reveal yourself to you. This is how we serve just as much as through action.

A person makes his appearance by entering into relation with other persons. The one is a spiritual form of natural detachment, the other the spiritual form of natural solidarity and connexion.

The aim of self-differentiation is to experience and to use, and the aim of these is “life,” that is, dying that lasts the span of a man’s life.

The aim of relation is relation’s own being, that is, contact with the Thou. For through contact with every Thou we are stirred with a breath of the Thou, that is, of eternal life.

Such tragedy we feel along with you. And yet, does it not call to your heart? And does it not ask for your best as a response to it? This instrument understands how deep this despair can go down, how low it can feel when one is disrespected or discarded, how incommensurable an expression of love can feel with the depth of suffering on this planet. And yet, as one learns to balance those tragedies’ reflections within the self, one learns that service is a flow, and it is called out of oneself by outer events.

It is a process of revealing opportunities, for you must understand, my brothers: you ignore so many opportunities on a moment-by-moment basis. And you offer these opportunities a kind of disdain—not purposely, but out of ignorance. And it will come to pass that you will see the 360 degree nature of this avoidance and come into your own relation with it at some later time, the chain of events and feelings that one upon another lead to what we typically call a “lesson,” an insight, newly discovered, into the nature of your own beingness. This is highly valued by your Creator; not simply the lesson, but the unique way that you, as a unique mind/body/spirit complex, approach it, take it within, and find a balance that no other person can ever achieve.

Therefore, we would like to revisit a topic that featured in your opening conversation, that of what those of Ra described as the “light touch.”2 It is a way in which one learns how to gingerly deal with resistance, to maturely relate to disappointment, and to keep the mood fresh, to keep the eyes from pointing downward so that new opportunities that otherwise would be missed can be glimpsed and can do their work of inspiring the seeker and drawing out of him or her that irreplaceable spark. And then the current of love, the circuit of life may be completed, and the flow will attest to one’s structure of selfhood more than any reflection, more than any explanation. For to feel truth, my friends; that is an order of magnitude more satisfying than to understand it or to conceive of it through the processes of mentation.

  • Orcas from 1981

The Richmond Meditation Group greatly appreciates the psychic and energetic support of seekers today as they made a new contact with the social memory complex of Oorkas. The session was riddled with interruptions that those of Oorkas deftly used to demonstrate how to relate to frustration and failure with that temperament those of Ra called the light touch. Everything has been recorded, mixed down, and transcribed, but give us a bit of time to sit with it as we want to ensure the highest quality, especially when the session was so atypical. Thanks again for all of your love and support.

Here’s the 1981 transcript from L/L Research’s “Orcas”, which I believe is the same complex but which had a different agenda back then through the channel “L”: https://www.llresearch.org/channeling/1981/0802

  • Q'uo on Positive Magical Working

The High Altitude Receiving Center has begun releasing transcripts and recordings of the fifth channeling intensive sessions, and I’ve spent the last week going over this material and trying to get clear on its import. In that work I really think this session is particularly interesting because it threads the needle between more specific information, general principles of magical working, and warnings to seekers.

I wanted to share some excerpts, but the entirety is worth reading.

In 69.17, those of Ra are answering Don’s questions about the danger of misplacing a mind/body/spirit complex into a time/space oppositely polarized to the complex’s native polarization. After discussing the nature of free will and why confusion can contribute to such a tragic outcome, they continue (emphasis mine):
